As Christians, we are about loving God and loving our neighbors. We see those two things as going hand and hand in Scripture. We want to be changed by Christ personally and we want to change the world. 

So on Serve Sundays, Anchor Bay Church, Antioch Community Church, and Pilgrim Church are partnering together and going out into the community to serve our neighbors in the North Shore with the love of God!

Kids, we would love for you to serve! Your hands, feet, brains, ideas, and creativity matter to God and to the community. 

Parents & Caregivers of kids under 3, we will be providing childcare for our littlest members in the nursery at Anchor Bay. Just indicate that you'd like childcare when you're prompted in the registration.

Ok without further ado...here are the ways you can serve our neighbors this Serve Sunday!

Offer Conversation Practice for English Language Learners

Many immigrants in our area are working hard to learn English - and they need practice with native speakers! Come together for coffee and cookies and have a conversation with one of our local ESOL students. Prompts will be provided. 

Help with Yardwork for a Foster Family

Many foster families get overwhelmed as they seek to support the children in their care. This Serve Sunday, we hope to support one of our local foster families by taking care of their Autumn yardwork so that the foster parents can focus on supporting the children in their home. 

Visit Residents of Memory Care Facility

Many of the residents of Atrium come from a Christian religious background, but are no longer able to leave their home to be part of a church community. So we will bring a church community to them! If you are a musician, kid, or just love to sing, join into the fun by helping to sing songs with the residents. 

Cook a Meal for Our Unhoused Neighbors

We will meet in the kitchen at ABC to cook a meal for the 25-30 residents of Lifebridge! The meal will be served for lunch a few hours later. 

Create Art

Art is a gift all by itself. It is first and foremost about helping people to practice seeing. We wanted to set apart time and space for people in our community (kids too!) to create for the sake of creating.

Clean & Organize a Woodshop Used by Post-Incarcerated Youth

We will be cleaning and organizing the woodshop that the youth at Cornerstone Creative use! We’ll divide tasks up within the group, but the big needs are sweeping, cleaning, sorting and organizing supplies/equipment, and a little bit of painting!

Serve International Seafarers

Volunteers will help run the convenient store, post office, and MoneyGram center at New England Seafarers Mission. 

Clean up a Playground

We will be serving our community and town of Ipswich as a whole by picking up trash and cleaning Bialek Park! 

Write Letters to Incarcerated Individuals

We will be writing letters for local incarcerated people! This small gesture goes a long way in reminding them that they are not forgotten by God or by us, Christ's Church.

Organize Clothes for Those Facing Houselessness

We will be organizing and sorting through clothing donations in a closet dedicated to Ellis Square Friends donations in Pilgrim Church! These clothing donations go to individuals and families facing houselessness in Salem and Beverly, and organizing the space makes it easier to assess what resources are there which helps distribute them to the people who need them!

Cook & Serve a Meal for Our Neighbors in Need

We will meet in the kitchen at Pilgrim Church to cook and serve a meal for around 20 people who benefit from the local outreach meals in town! 

Care for Our Littlest Members in the Nursery

Some kids might be a little too little to help with our other projects, so we’re looking for volunteers to be with our younger kids aged 3 and younger in the nursery during Serve Sunday! This helps older siblings, parents, and caregivers serve our community in other ways. 

Serve on the Hospitality Team

We'd love to have a team of people who can make sure everyone who is serving has what they need (snacks, coffee, water), welcome folks who didn't get the memo about Serve Sunday and help them plug into a project at the church, take photos to share later as we tell the stories of God's faithfulness.
